Customs
Gore Bay-Manitoulin is a seasonal customs point-of-entry. From mid-May to mid-October there is a customs agent present at the airport.
The new terminal at the airport is nearing completion. The expanded, modern facility will be able to house more people, pilots, crew and passengers as traffic has increased over the last few years. We welcome all to beautiful Manitoulin Island!
To offer visitors and pilots a means of travel while visiting Manitoulin, a Tesla Model 3 is available to rent. Cruise around the island in the quiet, efficient Tesla, and return to your airplane at the airport. Civilized. Convenient. And simple.
For those needing to pass through customs, By calling 1-888-CANPASS (1-888-226-7277) international visitors can enter Canada. Call before flying and then call a second time upon arriving on Canadian soil. A customs agent will then allow you to enter Canada.
The Gore Bay Flying Club makes its homebase the airport here on the west of the island. Founded in 2014 by Wade Cook, the club is active in the skies flying overhead, training new pilots and taking passengers for tours over the island. The club is active and a force in Gordon/Barrie Island. When a plane flies overhead, be sure to wave.
The airport sees its fair share of extreme weather events so the management lead by Robbie Colwell is world class.
